"The number of students studying sci- ence subjects in our two countries has decreased," Mr Pichet said, adding that Thailand would organise a training pro- gramme for Lao Science Ministry officials early next year. Mr Kittichai said more telescopes were also being built for Thai science students, especially those in rural areas. INBrief Fireball was from out of this world SPACE: A bright green flkball seen over Thailand on Monday night was an object from space entering the Earth's atmosphere, the head of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Narit) confirmed yesterday. Based on images and videos cap- tured by people in the North, Central and Northeast of Thailand, the fireball was similar to one seen on Sept 7, the institute's director Boonraksa Soonthorntham said. However, this time the fireball was green, instead of orange probably because the object contained a lot of chromium, which is commonly found in iron meteoroids. Mr Boonraksa said the fireball could have been the residue of a planetoid or comet, or an old satellite falling to Earth.
