Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology gave interviewed about his official visit to Tokyo, Japan between 24-28 November 2015 led by Dr.Somkit Jatusripitahak, Deputy Prime Minister and followed by 6 Ministers from relevant ministries including Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of ICT, Ministry of Sport and Tourism, MOST and 25 representatives from private sectors to undertake roadshow and promote relationship with Japan.

Also, there has been full team meeting with Mr. Shinso Abe, Japan’s Prime Minister and Mr. Taro Aso Deputy Prime Minister, and Japanese private sectors investing in Thailand. This roadshow visit has been very successful in making Japanese entrepreneurs to have more confidence in the situation in Thailand and keep invest in the Kingdom. Some enterprises with 40-50 year experience in the kingdom have committed to increase their investment as well

29 November 2015 -  Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister addressed the keynote speech on the topic  “Stronger Thailand”. Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology  gave the lecture titled “New generation of entrepreneurs and public policy of enhancing innovation in the concept of innovation utilization to excellence” at Udorn thani Hall, 5th floor, Centara Interconvention Hotel, Central Plaza, Udorn Thani province on the occasion of the 33rd Thai Chamber of Commerce Annual Seminar. Many high rank officers who joined the seminar include provincial governors, committee members of Thai Chamber of Commerce and foreign chambers of commerce, presidents, secretariats and committee members of YEC, as well as members from all provincial chamber of commerce and other government agencies. All chambers of commerce in the country have been assigned to join the joint committee to resolve economic problems and set up strategic plan to economic development in both provincial and national levels.

 

MOST arranged the workshop for Foreign Relations Network for year 2016

1 December 2015 at Vie Hotel, Rajathevi Bangkok, Office of International Cooperation and Foreign Relations. Office of the Permanent Secretary, MOST arranged the workshop for Foreign Relations Network for year 2016 under the topic "Future Mapping on International Cooperation" between 30 November -1 December 2015 in order to exchange and discuss idea to promote international cooperation and  strengthen cooperation among agencies under MOST in order to be a good platform linking between internal agencies of MOST and other countries in bilateral and multilateral cooperation dimension.

Dr. Pichet visited a site of using ST for water management at Saladin Community

    30 November 2015, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Ministry of Science and Technology and his team has visited a site of using ST for water management at Saladin Community, Mahasawas Subdistrict, Putthamonthon District, Nakhon Pathom Province.   By  Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute, MOST has supported the application of science and technology for water management using local participatory approach. This case study has been very successful with integrated methods. Certain techniques include using satellite data and GPS to undertake set field observation and set up systematic water management plan to rehabilitate canals and regulate their flow to solve flood and pollution problems and control water quality. Weather forecast and water gages have been installed and automatically operated. At present, water quality of the community has been improved with systematic flow. This is a successful case of using science and technology for water resource management and the techniques will be applied to other communities.

 

a seminar on “Knowing the vicious dengue”

(24 November 2015) at MOST, National Science and Technology Development Agency arranged a seminar on “Knowing the vicious dengue” to disseminate correct information about dengue from virus origin, infection, epidemics, severity and treatment in order to provide knowledge and practices to tackle dengue. This event also included dengue research presentation conducted by NSTDA. Many representatives from public and private sectors and academic institutions joined both presentation and discussion sessions of the seminar.

24 November 2015Department of Science Service, MOST  arranged the 1st Workshop under the project to promote OTOP products to overseas using STI  titled “Enhancing OTOP Product Quality for Sustainable Income” for Southern Provinces. This event is aimed at transferring research outcome from Department of Science Service to community entrepreneurs in order to increase value of OTOP products using STI which will help solving and developing better production process according to community entrepreneurs’ needs.

During the official visit to Japan between 25-28 November, 2015,  RTG’s Economic Team led by Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister and 6 Ministers from relevant ministries including Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of ICT, Ministry of Sport and Tourism and MOST joined the meeting with Mr. Shinso Abe, Japan’s Prime Minister and Mr. Taro Aso Deputy Prime Minister, and Japanese private sectors investing in Thailand.

On 25 November, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj joined the meeting with Japanese Minister on Science and Technology Policy and discussed about 3 agreements including 1) establishing Climate Change Technology Transfer Center associated with Japanese PM’s vision about Cool Earth and Cool Japan, a principle strategy to rehabilitate and stimulate Japanese economy and 2) establishing Institute for Science, Technology and Innovation Research Policy to exchange experience. Two sides agreed to exploit National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies or GRIPS to be the focal point in this matter and 3) establishing National Space Program under Overseas Space Working Group.

25 November 2015,  - At Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani/ Assoc. Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology presided the Award Ceremony for the 12th Thailand Paper-folded Airplane Competition. This event was performed at National Science and Technology Fair 2015 with  jointly collaboration between National Science Museum and Thailand Paper-folded Airplane Association. The winner will be supported to further compete in world championship in Japan.

19 November, 2015, at Office of Innovation Agency (NIA), Assoc. Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology chaired the meeting of the Taskforce for Promoting OTOP Entrepreneur and Product Development Using STI (STI on OTOP) in order to increase value of OTOP products and promote development for entrepreneurs on supply chain. This plan was developed via collecting, studying and analyzing  data of STI resources and creating integrated strategy for joint collaboration among STI public and private agencies concerned.
