10 February 2016, at the Novotel Hotel, Siam Square / Ministry of Science and technology by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI), in cooperation with the British Council Thailand and True Corporation Public Company Limited, launched the project “FameLab”, the world biggest competitive of Science Show, held for the first time in Thailand, aiming to elect representatives of the country for the national competition finals at the World Science Festival in the UK. At the day, there was also the ceremony of award  as funding to support the communication of science and other prizes worth over two billion Baht.

The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), Ministry of Science and Technology, in cooperation with Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has signed the joint memorandum in research and development in science and technology related to materials and equipments used in the process of royal rainmaking to support the mission of royal rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, as well as any other operations that are relevant and necessary, for the mean of the development of science and technology together. This can be also helpful to other agencies involved in the future.

Ministry of Science and Technology, for Industrial upgrading of Thailand by signing of a joint memorandum (MOU) on "Thailand Spring Up

5 February 2016, Bangkok - Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry, works in Partners with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology, for Industrial upgrading of Thailand by signing of a joint memorandum (MOU) on "Thailand Spring Up, leveraging of technology and environmental safety, reducing energy consumption and increasing the value of industrial waste to the industrial factory”, focused on the needs of the industry to conduct research and supporting technology transfer from research to industry. This is a reduction of social inequality and an opportunity to access to state services of the industry in accordance with government policy, in order to rapidly develop growth of the industrial sector in Thailand in term of technological, environmental, safety and energy upgrading by targeting to promote the development of entrepreneurs at least 100 cases  in the first two years with support costs of no more than 400,000 baht. It is expected to generate a return on investment of 7.5 times for Thailand industry.

3 February 2016 - at the Ministry of Science and technology, Bangkok - After a successful operation of the last two exhibition "Research to commercialization", Ministry of Science and Technology by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with more than 19 partners, exhibited 153 Technologies ready to transfer for the private sector, including the following sectors: food and beverage, Agriculture and Fisheries, cosmetic, medical equipment Jewelry and Accessories, at the 3rd Thailand Tech Show held on 23 - 24 February 2016 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, aiming to provide a platform for entrepreneurs and SMEs who are interested in furthering research into business innovation. The special opportunity for this Year, entrepreneurs in the regions can access to research results by visiting the Thailand Tech Show at their choice of regions, namely in northern, northeastern and southern.

Prof. Dr. Werapong Pairsuwan, the permanent secretary to Ministry of Science and Technology, presided over the award ceremony to the winners of the activity "Research 2 Market: R2M 2015" nationally organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) by the Science Park Promotion Agency (SPA) and the Northeastern Science Park, to promote and encourage the University research with the innovation potential, to be utilized in real commercial practice and also to develop the potential of students in analyzing the feasibility of the technology and the business plan as well as promoting the creation of new entrepreneurs, that is an important part in driving the economy of Thailand.

GIS Assembly Conference “Geoinfotech 2016”, a platform that could lead the country to sustainable change.

Ministry of Science and Technology by Geoinformatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization) or GISTDA, organized a conference on Geoinformatics and Space Technology 2016 or Geoinfotech 2016. The conference will be held on 3-5 February 2016 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This forum provides an opportunity for academics, researchers and students to present and publish their research on space technology and GIS, that could lead to sustainable change and development of the country.

On 22 January 2016,  - Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology, visited the factory producing components of compressor blade for Rolls-Royce jet engine for aircraft, leistritz (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and factory producing parts of wing frame for aircraft, Senior Aerospace (Thailand) Co., Ltd.  They were welcomed by Mr. Jonathan Asherson (Regional Director ASEAN and Pacific, Rolls-Royce plc), Mr. Hugh Vanijprabha (Managing Director, Rolls-Royce (Thailand)), Mr. Jamie Looker (CEO, Senior Aerospace (Thailand)), Mr. Chalath Kongsuwan (Managing Director, Leistritz (Thailand)) and staffs, at Pinthong industrial districts, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. The factory covers an area of 2,652 square meters, performs a strict quality inspection for incoming raw materials and is also a leading manufacturer of high-precision components for aircraft engines and power industry from Germany.

'Dr. Phichet' open discussion stage to talk about education reform, and co-chaired the meeting with the Sub-Committee for Science, Technology and Innovation research.  The meeting agreed in common resolution to drive the country by innovation, let the private sector take the lead, and raise the investment for research and development to 1% of GDP within 2017.

 

On 21 January 2016 at the Ministry of Science and Technology  - Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology, along with Prof. Dharmasakti Phonphitchayama, Chairman of the Subcommittee for Science, Technology and Innovation Research, co-chaired the meeting of the subcommittee for Science, Technology and Innovation Research,  which is under the Commission of country driving for education reform, to exchange ideas on reforming the country by economy- and society-based, that could be driven by innovation.

 

 

 

"IOT City Innovation Center"

Ministry of Science and Technology by the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA, in cooperation with CAT Telecommunications Co., Ltd or CAT and Thai Embedded Systems Association or TESA, held a press conference on the cooperation and launching of "IOT City Innovation Center", This center aims to develop the innovative ecosystem-based, Internet of Thing (IOT), by encouraging the promotion of innovation and driving the business innovation for entrepreneurs in the field of information and communications technology to be able to develop products and solutions for intelligent city management with the quality level conforming to the international standards.

Additionally, there was a signing ceremony of  MOU "The development and promotion of innovative entrepreneurs for developing smart city" by representatives of the relevant parties, including Dr. Pun-arj Chairatana (Director of NIA), Col. Assist. Prof. Dr. Sanpachai  Huvanandana (Director acting President of CAT Telecommunication Co., Ltd) and Dr. Werachet Khan-ngern (Thai Embedded Systems Association). The signing took place at the Innovation Park Building, National Innovation Agency (NIA).
