Mr. Kittiphong Promwong, Deputy Secretary General of National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI)
On 31 May 2016, the Cabinet has agreed to appoint Mr. Kittiphong Promwong, Deputy Secretary General of National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI), as new Permanent Secretary of STI to substitute Mr. Pichet Durongkaveroj who has resigned from the position to inaugurate as Minister of Science and Technology.
Kitipong Promwong completed his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in 1994. He received his M.Sc. in Science and Technology Policy and Ph.D. in Development Studies at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow in 1996 and 2001 respectively. He is working at the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) with the position of Director of Policy Research and Management Department. His main responsibility includes directing policy research and formulation related to science, technology and innovation and supervising secretariat works for the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Committee and subcommittees under it.

(On June 3 , 2016) – At Kasetsart University, Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology, presided over the subsidy ceremony by Dr.Simon Jan De Hoop, Vice-President of Hortigenetics Research (S.E.Asia) Ltd., providing financial support 1,000,000 baht for the Bioinformatics Database in plant breeding. Furthermore, National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) under Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) joined hands with Center for Agricultural Biotechnology (CAB) under Kasetsart University and signed the joint memorandum (MOU) since 2014 to present.
