Already Opened “National Science and Technology Fair 2015”

On 15 November 2015, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology has delivered an open remarks at an open ceremony for National Science and Technology Fair 2015” which is arranged under the concept “Ignite our thoughts and imagination, improve our life side by science, strengthen the nation with technology, through the light of innovation”. This is one of the biggest events presenting varieties of science, technology and innovation exhibitions and activities from Thailand and other countries. Its highlights include 4D Simulator, The Tomorrow Ship with 4D Effect, Robotaspian, Genius Humanoid, and new grasshopper species only found in Thailand. The Fair will be held during 14-25 November 2015 at the Challenger, Impact Exhibition Hall, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.

Dr. Pichet announced the main objective of the event is to pay homage to King Rama IV (King Mongkut) who was designated as “the Father of Thai Science” and King Bhumibol Adulyadej who was designated as “the Father of Thai Technology” and the Father of Thai Innovation”. Altogether, it will commemorate the occasion which United Nations has proclaimed this year as UN International Year of Soils and UNESCO International Year of Light following the resolution of UNESCO. This will be a showcase hub for Thai scientists and researchers associated with collaboration from 9 ministries 7 countries and 100 agencies from both government and private sectors. Foreign countries which joined this event include 11 agencies from Japan, Vietnam, United Kingdom, United State of America and France. All agencies have brought new research and scientific innovations to exhibit at their booths. This event will provide opportunity for researchers, scientists and people to observe new STI products and will inspire youth and young generations who will be strength of the land in the years to come to be more interested in science and technology which crucially take part in sustainable development and increase country’s competitiveness.

Associate Professor Dr, Weerapong Pairsuwan, Permanent Secretary of MOST has added about the immensity of event that the Fair has integrated varieties of STI showcases and products within one spacious area. The exhibitions has been improved with modern designs and displays in order to attract people from all walks of life and youth. For the must see exhibitions, there are “King Rama VI, The Father of Thai Science”, “Enlightenment and a Civilized Siam”, “Exhibition of Royal Initiatives of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Father of Thai Technology” and other exhibitions of activities and initiatives of the Royal Family”. Another specialty is Soil Pavilion which has been set up to commemorate H.M. King’s nomination as Humanitarian Soil Scientist. Also, there is Light is Life Pavilion which set up to explain whole story about the light and a dark tunnel for youth to test and imagine life without light.
