Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) organizes the exhibition for Mobile Cabinet Meeting to perform satellite map application, plantation area management, water resources, disaster, security and ready to announce Thailand to be Center for ASEAN Astronomy, connected global sky.

            In the 2nd Mobile Cabinet Meeting held on 30 June 2015 at The International Convention and Exhibition Center Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary, Chiang Mai. The exhibition is organized to present operation of each ministries.

            Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology says that MOST by Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency(GISDA) jointly organizes exhibition to present technology for survey satellite system for development or THEOS-2 which is spatial management system for country, provincial and local level / covering agricultural aspect to set land suitable for planting, production and processing planning, to follow up planting, to forecast domestic and foreign economic crop products / covering disaster aspect to follow up, analyze and prevent the area of flood, drought, forest fire and pollutants / covering security aspect to follow up around frontier, drug planting area in order to arrange strategic area management / covering natural resources aspect to manage forest area, sea resources, water resources, urban planning, tax collecting, land use for construction public utility management and infrastructure area.

            In this matter, this exhibition also presents central geo-information retrieval system and services which is the map integrated system among ministries concerned. It is the center of national geo-information, to reduce the overlapped operation, to increase efficient management, to regulate, follow up and plan for future operation and extend the development in various aspects.

            Dr.Pichet says that National Astronomical Research Institute (NARIT) as the agency to regulate Thai National Observatory, equipped 2.4 m. diameter telescope, the greatest and most modern in ASEAN, located at Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai to present Astronomical infrastructure of the country for R&D and Astronomical learning in the future. One of these is Thai National Observatory or Thai National Observatory to commemorate His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.

            Moreover, there are 5 Regional Observatories located at Nakhon Ratchasima, Chachoengsao, Songkla, Pitsanuloke, Khon Kaen. The first Regional Observatory for the Public (ROP) at Nakhon Ratchsima has already opened in 2014 and the second one at Chachoengsao is under construction and plan to open in 2017. NARIT also has automatic telescope network located at Chile, China, Australia and Mexico connecting global sky for Thai people’s learning 24 hours.  Finally, Astro Park is open at Chiang Mai, it is the ASEAN center of knowledge and Astronomy Innovation and also expand network internationally. MOST hopes that when Astro Park finishes the construction completely, Chiang Mai will be the Astronomical capital, to be national and Southeast Asia regional center of Astronomy.
