New Zealand and Australia accept to import the radiated fruits from Thailand for the first time.

           17 February 2015 : Ministry of Science and Technology by Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology(TINT) provides radiation for exported fruits by utilization of nuclear technology in order to increase value-added, create standard for Thai exported products by Gamma Irradiation which is internationally accepted, to control quality of exported fruit and to solve the problems of insect pests contaminated in some fruits as follows; longans, lychees, mangoes, mangosteens, pineapples, rambutans and dragon fruits. All are exported radiated fruits which are controlled, got rid and sterilized insect pests for example fruit flies in order to expand freshness for food preservation.

           In addition, Thailand accelerates to enlarge the exported markets of radiated longans and lychees to Australia and New Zealand which increasingly value 2,300 million baht. TINT examines and provides the issuance of certificates of the amount of radiation in products as follows; rice, cane sugar, dairy products, spices, canned fishes and animal foods to serve the safety standards of International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) which can be accepted for no harmful effects and no problems for nutrition. It values more than 50,000 million baht per year and gems irradiation’s export increases about 2,000 million baht.
